In a few days I leave for 2½ months stay in my little cosy house in Sweden :)
 It´s very exciting as always, but this year even more, as I will stay in my house for the first time during winter.....

A lot of questions emerge in my head:

Will the dogs thrive in the cold ?
I have made VERY good doghouses for them - very well insulated - but all the same,
they are not at all used to the temperatures we sometimes see in Sweden.
I always have the option to let them sleep in the car at night, if the weather forecast  predicts very cold nights.

Are the tracks OK ?
According to the Frost ´n´ Fun family they are GREAT .......

Is my little house also WONDERFUL in the wintercold?
I believe so and I hope so !!

How will the neighbours react towards a new sleddog person intruding the area?
This is always a VERY good question and not possible to predict.....
But I´ll just have to do my best to disturb as little as possible - we sleddog people are a very vulnerable species .....:(

I do anyway look very much forward to staying at my own place - having the dogs in dogyards and not in the car.
During my last stay in Sweden I calculated, that I opened / closed a carabin 59.400 times ....
I took 6.480 dogs out off and back into the car ....

Just returned home after 5 days in Sweden building playground and doghouses :)

Just returned home after 3½ week in Sweden to take over my house :)
It is the sweetest little house - cosy and so well kept!!

We build 4 big dogyards for the huskies.

Yaz´Yarkova´s Zcirocco II has for some time now had problems with one of his toes. It goes out of joint
whenever he makes a quick turn, and this is VERY painful.
I have tried to keep him in his dogyard for 3 weeks to give it a possibility to heal, but this does not solve the
problem.
So finally today I went to Ålborg Dyrehospital, and Michael Butler removed the sick toe and also the little one up on the leg.
The operation went well, and after a few days rest inside the house, he was so well, that he could be in my
dogpension.
Here he stayed until the stitches were removed.

Now one month later he is completely OK and running like a maddog again :)

I have finally - after 3 years searching - bought my own house in Sweden :)
 

45 sqm of purebred Swedish cottage cosyness ............
With unlimited possibilities of sleddog driving autum and winter just outside the door - I´m so
very very happy!!!

Yesterday Karima, Galina and I went to Wismar in Germany to the German Sighthound Club´s yearly
main exhibition.
Karima was shown in intemediate class, and did quite well - she got a VDH ticket for VDH Championchip
- but did not go further due to her slightly narrow front.

BUT at this show the title: "Most beautiful Borzoi head 2007" was given, and Karima won the
bitch title :))))

Friday  this little guy moved in here at Kennel Yaz´Yarkova.
He is a stray dog with an unregistraited tattoo :(
The police stated, that unless the owner showed up by friday - or somebody else bought him, he would
be eutanized.....and this I could NOT witness!!
So now he lives here, until I find him a good lasting new home.

( He has found a new home :))

This weekend Karima, Galina and I went to the Sighthound Club´s annual two day exhibition -
this year held in Randbøldal in Jylland.
The judges were from Brasil: Mr. and Mrs. Knoll.

Saturdays results:

Karima got: 1. prize with CK - Best Junior Bitch - Best Bitch with Certifikat and was BOS
Galina got: Very Promising - Best Baby Borzoi

Sundays results:

Karima got: 1. prize with CK - Best Junior Bitch - Best Bitch with Certifikat and was BOB  - BIS 3 Junior
Galina got: Very Promising - Best Baby Borzoi - BIS 3 Baby

 So I am VERY HAPPY !!!

Borzoi-party at Jytte´s wonderful place in Sulsted in the Northern part of Jutland.
We had 10 grown up Borzois and one puppy together on Jytte´s huge playground.
And not ONE episode - all the dogs ( and humans :)) behaved well, and we had a wonderful
day.
 

Today Karima, Galina and I went for a walk arranged by the sighthoundclub.
We hope this will be a popular monthly event in the club - going a new place every month
giving ourselves the opportunity to see some new parts of our beautiful country!
And we also meet other wonderful Sighthounds and their owners.

Today the trip went to the eastern part of Jutland at Løgten Beach.
A VERY nice trip with outstanding nature!!

Today Karima had her second Lure Course session.
She was a bit unsecure, and returned three times to me asking for help....
I brought Malou today, and she was superb at this sport.
Next time I will let them run together - hopefully this will give Karima the support she seemed
to seek from me today...

Now Galina is old enough to play with Malou.
And much to my suprise, Malou shows completely new skills as a patient and gentle auntie.
And Galina just LOVES her new playmate.

HAPPY  LUCKY  ME :)
 

Today Galina started at puppyclass in the Danish Kennel Klub.
I attend puppyclass with all my puppies - primarily to socialize my puppies and teaching
them that dogs belonging to breeds different from themselves also are dogs.

This is very important for all puppies to learn, but even more important, when dealing with
dogs born with huge hunting instincts as the Borzoi and Siberian Husky.

Galina showed very good social skills :) - but when it came to the deeper understanding
of what her beloved owner wanted her to concentrate on ...... ARRGGGHHHH !!

Today I went to Germany to fetch Galina.
We had a nice trip home - after 50 kms I put her into the cage with Karima, and they both
slept all the way home.

Now she is setteling in here - a very selfconfident little girl with a very
healthy attitude towards all the new stuff :)

Just been 3 days in Sweden - againagain - to look at a sleddogplace to rent......
More will follow ...... :)

Lure Coursing debut with Karima !!!!!

We drove to the other part of Denmark, where nice people from the sighthound club arrange
Lure Coursing for us all one saturday each month - Thank You Folks !!
Karima was VERY VERY GOOD in her debut - her enthusiasm was great :)
BE SURE - WE WILL ATTEND AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE !!

Ladies and gentlemen - here she is :

Ailica´s Graceful Galina

Ailica´s Graceful Galina was finally chosen this weekend. I had three puppies I could choose between,
and I decided to follow Astrid´s advise.

The puppie we chose is a very fine match to Karima in temperement, and all in all she is a very fine "fit" in my Borzoi life.

Ailica´s Graceful Galina is now 5½ weeks... I went to Germany this weekend to visit Astrid Wolf and her beautiful Borzois.
The puppies are growing very fast now - so much has happened since my last visit two weeks ago.
I have recieved my import permit already.

Karima came with me, and she was quite overwhelmed ....  SO MANY strange dogs and even tiny tiny ones!
Astrids dogs were ever so friendly and gentle towards Karima - I just love these dogs caracter!!

I have two favourites by now, and I look very much foreward to be allowed to choose :)

Summerholidays

Here in Denmark it has - in my opinion - been too hot for a while for sleddog training, as we are not allowed to train at night in the danish forests - this is one of the big differences between living here instead of Sweden :(
All the same I believe our dogs need and love a break in their training.

So the next months will be playtime and relaxation for the fourlegged, and for me as always working hard with reparing + building and of course planning the next season.

Ailica´s Graceful Galina is now 4 weeks - I really look foreward to get a playmate for Karima.
Karima loves to play, and Malou is a fine substitute for "the real thing".... but in between she gets too rough, and Karima does not understand that way of playing!

Karima is a very soft and tender dog, and it will be very nice for her to get a soulmate :)
