Besides ( hopefully ) compeeding in the
Polardistans Race with 2 six dog teams in the 160 kms class,
I have decided to attend
1 middistance race: the
Polarhundsmästerskab in week 5.
I will attend this race with a six dog team going 2 x 50 kms.
The New Nordic Open is also
tempting, but I think it´s too close to my arrival to Sweden, and my
dogs will not be ready for a
Middistance race - maybe next year :)
Departure is still getting closer - I hope to leave muddy hot 'n' humid
Denmark in a few days :)))

LONGING FOR THIS SIGHT!!! |

X-ray of Axia´s Baguette´s
chest showed enlargement of her heart :(
This means lazy indoor relaxation for the rest of her life and
medication to support her heart. |

I HATE MUD !!!!!
This november has been the worst, I can remember!
The dogs suffer from the hot and humid weather, and I find it VERY
hard to be fond of training my dogs in DK!
My Axia´s Baguette has had two incidents now - tumbling over very soon after
start - in deep trouble!
- we will examine her on monday with focus on heart failure
:(
I have retired her now, and she has moved indoor living together
with Huskygaarden´s Rani - and she really really
LOVES it!!

PHEW - IT´S HOT HOT
HOT!!
I am speeding things up now and hope to leave Denmark as soon as possible for my winter stay in
Sweden :))
I will stay up there till the end of march, so MANY things have to
be done before leaving.... |

21.11.2009

HAPPY HAPPY 8. BIRTHDAY TO MY
THREE WONDERBOYS:
IGAIS Tassar Callisto,
IGAIS Tassar Isidore Polaris and IGAIS Tassar Deimos

All three are VERY good dogs - Callisto being my best male
and the two brothers among my top 5 males!
I HATE danish weather - the humidity is mostly too high for sleddog
training - seldom below 90 %....
This november has been extremely rainy - mudwrestling is what
we do during training!
I do my best to ensure the dogs well-being.
We still go short distances - take a lot of short brakes and let the
dogs cool off during the trip.
But all the same it´s very very demotivating, and next year I plan
to do it differently!!
STAY TUNED :) |

16.11.2009
My new Danler Flexmax 180 has arrived
:)
This is my third
Danler sled, and I must say, that Ernst Danler as always has
exceeded my expectations!
It is a really sublime sled - so many breathtaking details - so many
brilliant ideas put into one sled!

04.11.2009
I have 23 dogs in training this season................
This is a VERY hard task, if one has to do it alone - but
this season I have two brilliant helpers - two "doggie-girls" with the
right touch for dogs, and with a brilliant ability to learn and cope
with this quite odd way of dog-life :))
- and during my 3½ month stay in Sweden 6 - 7
helpers will join me and help me train and tend my dogs for the
Polar Distans :))
I feel very very lucky!
This is the first season for my pups:
Yaz´Yarkova´s Slithering Slowfox,
Yaz´Yarkova´s Flickering Firefox,
Frost 'n' Fun Jubilee Jewel and Frost 'n'
Fun Juice.
All 4 cope well and seem promising for the future - and as I
expected and hoped for:
Yaz´Yarkova´s Slithering Slowfox
is nothing less than brilliant!!!!
She has allways been a very special girl, and it by now clearly
looks like she has inherited her mother´s fabulous abilities
- her mum being my best dog of them all: Yaz´Yarkova´s Zavarinya
- happy happy lucky me!!!

27.10.2009
For nearly one week Jan and
I have been working Our butts off to build new dogyards in Sweden.
We have chosen to build traditional dogyards instead of the
elements I got stolen up there.
It´s so much bigger a job, but allso so much more difficult to steal
- hopefully....
We brought with us the indoor dogs: Coverdale´s Karima, Ailicia´s Graceful
Galina,India da Casa das Thuyas,
Malou at Yaz´Yarkova
and Huskygaardens Rani.
We didn´t have the time to complete the job, so Jan will go up there
in a few weeks time to do so.... |
|
08.10.2009
Today I went to Nørre Sundby to pick up the fence for my new
dogyards in Sweden.
I brought with me Coverdale´s Karima, Ailicia´s Graceful
Galina and India da Casa das Thuyas - we had
invited ourselves to visit my friend Jytte and her three borzois.
We had a really nice afternoon up there - Indi meeting strange
borzois for the first time in her life....
She was
sweet and friendly towards them - and they on their hand were very
kind towards Indi despite her strange apperance.

03 + 04.10.2009
This weekend I went to a VERY fantastic seminar with the
Norwegian wolf ekspert Runar Næss.
The subjects were puppie development and dog-language.
Runar Næss is an incredibly skilled person when it comes to dog
issues, and besides that he is a very entertaining lecturer.
A really really good way to spend a weekend!!

26.09.2009
Today I held a lecture at FOF Århus about the wonderful sleddoglife
:)
Yaz´Yarkova´s Slithering Slowfox,
Flickering Firefox,
Zavarinya,
Tacky Toffee and IGAIS Tassar Callisto came with me
- all doing a splendid job representing the breed in the best way!
The temperature is beginning to
look promising now - this is the forecast for the next week:

It looks very very good - the
temperature will lower 5 - 10 degrees compared with this week, so
HOPEFULLY this tendency
is here to stay, so I can start training my dogs
:)))))))))
The farmer has finished working on the fields around our property,
so next week I´ll prepare the track - setting up 200 poles to
guide the dogs ....
|
|
20.09.2009
It seems, that I´m always
the last musher in DK, when it comes to start of the training season....
Our climate changes rapidly, and when I started training my dogs in
the middle of the eighties, we usually could start in August.
This is absolutely impossible today - start of the season gets later
and later, if You wish to ensure the dogs health and well-being.
All the years I have been in this
wonderful sport, I have tried to train my dogs according to two
simple rules:
1 : Never
train a polar sleddog, when the temperature is above 15 degree
celcius.
2: Even when the temperature is below 15,
Never train a polar sleddog, when the
temperature added to the humidity exceeds 80.
These two rules have been
aknowledged by serious mushers thoughout all time as very good and
simple rules, when it comes to
training polar sleddogs in hot and humid parts of the world.
These two rules have one very simple goal:To ensure the dogs health
and well-being.
If the dogs are trained neglecting these two rules, they are very
prone to overheating, which can ruin a dog for life.
Within the last 24 hours we here at
my place have had temperatures and a humidity according to the two
graphs below:
This graph shows the
temperature during the last 24 hours.
Temperature on vertical axis and hour of day on
horisontal axis.

Allthough the added numbers go
below 80 from 14.00 to 18.00, it´s still not possible to train
the dogs, as the temperature is far
above 15 degree celsius.
And allthough the temperature is below 15 degree celsius from
20.00 to 11.00, the high humidity + the temperature adds up to
more
than 80 - furthermore most danish mushers do not have
training possibilities after sunset and before sunrise.
So I still wait - trying to
assemble the needed patience and telling myself, that if I can´t do so, I need to move somewhere else
-
- which I might do eventually :)

15.09.2009
What was meant to be a short, relaxed
time in my little Swedish paradise, turned out to be something very
different....
Thieves had stolen 1/4 of my dogyards, and as I strongly believe,
they would return, I decided to pull down the rest and
take them with me back home to Denmark.
It seems that one have to build second-rate dogyards up there -
anything else is too tempting :(
Now I´ll install a sensor based alarm system up there, and hope
this will prevent further thefts.
Besides that I had a nice week up
there.
I brought with me my couch-potatoes: Coverdale´s Karima,
Ailica´s Graceful Galina, Huskygaarden´s Rani,
Malou at Yaz´Yarkova and
India da Casa das Thuyas, who now
is old enough for the travel to Sweden.
IGAIS Tassar Polaris, Sassicaia´s Moonlight Magic,
Braveheart and Snowfall´s Million Dollar Muffin also came
along.

Something´s missing ( not very SH
secure .... )

Malou at Yaz´Yarkova
- my little extra something

..... COUCH POTATO :)

How does one know where
the chewingbone ends and the
couch begins ???
I mean: they are both made of cowskin .... how on earth
can
one blame a doggie-girl ????
;) |

|
Allthough Indi ought to be a rough ´n´ tough guard dog
roaming together with her flock of sheep in the
Portugese mountains, she REALLY enjoys the lazy Danish life
including chewbone consumption on a leather couch.
She is beginning to show her inner toughdog - getting more and
more watchfull.
I have seen her angry once - not a nice and peaceful sight!
Buying a dog with the internet as sole guidance can be a risky
thing to do, but in Indi´s case it has been
a success so far.
She 120 % lives up to my expectations - sweet and social with
her family, and with a watchful but healthy
attitude towards strangers.

|
30.08.2009
This weekend I have attended a massage course at the Danish Kennel
Klub.
Saturday
I brought with me Malou at Yaz´Yarkova, and sunday
Ailica´s Graceful Galina acted as playmate for me
- both were VERY
sweet and patiend with my fumbling :)
It was a fine course - I learned a lot, and hopefully I´ll find the
time to massage some of my competition-dogs.
I have no doubt, that it would do a difference - but it takes 1 hour
pr week pr dog.
The coming season I aim for 12 dogs in competition ( two 6 dog teams
at Polar Distans ) and it is quite naive to think,
that I can find 12 extra hours pr week....

26.08.2009
They say that bad luck always comes in threes ....
Yesterday IGAIS Tassar Callisto - today Yaz´Yarkova´s Zcirocco II
:(
My bitches are in heat, and this
morning IGAIS Tassar Ziggy Stardust
removed 1/2 of Zcirocco´s right ear in one gobble through the fence.
As the amputation wasn´t the most perfect seen, we anæsthetized
Zcirocco and made it a bit less ugly.
I decided to let him castrate while sleeping.
His joint-popping-toe might give him so much trouble, that I´ll
decide to retire him
allready this season, and I have no doubt, that he will cope better with
this as neutered.
Not THAT pretty anymore - the left
ear was snipped several years ago by Lonyo, and at that time
I thought it
looked really really bad ....so what´s to say now?
Hope they are wrong and that bad luck
only comes in twos....
|
|
25.08.2009
The bad news is that IGAIS Tassar Callisto is sick
:(
- the good news is that it´s a condition, we can do
something about :)

He has had blood in his urine on and off this summer, and today we
examined him thoroughly.
His prostate is hugely enlarged - a condition a substantial number
of intact male dogs get, when they grow older.
Earlier on you would castrate such a dog, but today it is possible
to give the dog medicine.
Callisto is my best male ever, and it is impossible for me to
even THINK castration in his case, so hopefully
the medical cure will do the trick!
Now I need to ensure, that I won´t
get into trouble in a doping test - waiting for an answer from the
producer.... Today
Yaz´Yarkova´s Flickering Firefox went training at Lone Greva´s
place - GOOOOOOOOOOD BOY !!
|
|
24.08.2009
This weekend Indi and I went to a tracking seminar.
The instructor was Kaare Dalslet - a policeman who has trained
police dogs for many years.
He is very experienced and only uses positive, soft training methods.
The seminar was splendid - I
learned a huge amount of new stuff - Kaare does thinge VERY
different from all
the other instructors I´ve met ....
Indi coped very well - she was a
bit timid at times and sleeping in a tent was VERY spooky. I believe
it
reminded her of the dreadfull enclosure she experienced on the
plane, when she flew to Denmark 4½ months ago.
But she finally gave in and slept happily for 9 hours
:)
I have accepted, that Indi
really doesn´t see any reason in obedience training - not even with
a clicker ....
But it seems, that she enjoys tracking - so hopefully this
weekends kick in my but will encourage me to
DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT ;)
Unfortunately one of the other
participants brought with her a very unstable male dog, who THREE
times
made an aggressive attack on Indi :(
- shame on the owner!
This took some of the joy out of the weekend - I DO NOT want this to
happen to my 8 months puppie!
|
|
19.08.2009
My dogs are so totally allowed to be on my furniture - so quite
often I buy new ( used ) leather couches.
This is always a HIT :)
Galina totally enjoying
life in a leathery manner....
|
|
12.08.2009
Lure Coursing today with Karima
and Galina.
One splendid run for Karima - unfortunately Galina´s
co-runner ( a huge male borzoi ) found more pleasure in
chasing Galina than the "hare" :(
Galina was quite spooked by this, and as the machine wich
pulls the hare broke down soon after this incidense, she did not
have the chance for a nice run afterwards - not good.
Next time I´ll let my two girls run
together to ensure that Galina has some good runs!

|
|
06.08.2009
Yaz´Yarkova´s Slithering Slowfox
alias Sloffy started at clicker
training today - I chose her of all my huskies, because I have high
hopes for her as a future lead dog, and this training will be a huge
benefit for me in this matter.
|
|
05.08.2009
Today Indi started training at
DcH.
She has not changed even a tiny bit during summer holidays -
stubborn and unfocused as usual
:)
|
|
28.07.2009
Lure Coursing today with Karima
and Galina.
They were thrilled, and both had 2 very fine runs.
Galina showed her best ever - I
believe that her daily wild playing with
Indi makes a huge difference.
I have started training both on
bicycle now to give them ( and me ) a better condition.
|
|
22.07.2009

Today I celebrate the birthday of
Yaz´Yarkova´s Slithering Slowfox and her brother Yaz´Yarkova´s Flickering Firefox.
One year has passed - it´s very
hard to believe ....
I am very happy with the two - they have not been tried in harness
yet, but I believe they will fullfill my hopes and expectations
:)
Summerholidays are now at their
highest, so I work in my dog hotel from 7 am to 11 pm every day, and
have done so for 4 weeks now .... talk about tired !
My own dogs are VERY patient with
me - I keep telling them, that accepting this period of neglect will
be fully rewarded
the coming year !
Planning for the next VERY exciting
season in full progress - I am so excited with the thought of
going longer
distances from now on.
I will have a track a home, as soon as the farmer has harvested the
crop - here I´ll do most of the training.
All dog obediense training is on summerbreak,
but we start again in august - nice nice :)
|
|
20.06.2009
Indi and I went to the Danish
Kennel Klubs yearly event in the Tivoli Friheden in Århus today.
A huge amount of different dogs
were present, and Indi had so
much fun there.

17.06.2009
I just returned yesterday
evening after 10 nice days containing nothing much but full
relaxation in my little
house in Sweden :)
I brought with me my Borzois,
Malou and the T-litter bandits.
I also brought my ATV and took some time exploring the dirtroad
possibilities for autum-training - hopefully this will
be possible this autumn....
It´s always SO nice up there, and
my little house was well and cosy.

31.05.2009
I have decided to make
a very far-reaching change in my sport.
I have been training my dogs for sprint distances for more than
20 years now, and the time has come for changes.
Week 10 in 2010 I hope to be at the starting shute for Polardistans 160.
This means a
completely new way of training and even THINKING sleddogs....
For the time being, I can´t comprehend HOW different this will be
for me and my dogs!
This first race will have one goal only: to participate and finish
with all the dogs happy and well.
I really have NO idea as to wether my dogs and I will be capable of this task....
I have started to
purchase all the different stuff allready now.
First and very
important:

My
longdistance-sled.
Naturally a Danler FlexMax
:)
My decision
unfortunately also means, that I have to wait a year to buy my Dyck
cart :(
But it will
be VERY expensive to participate in this race, so I have to choose.
Second:
Cloathing for the
dogs:
|
Hurtta Pro
Windstopper - this full body suit is of extremely high
quality!
At first I thought it would be necessary with an
overcoat, but having seen the sublime quality in real
now,
I realise it´s absolutely NOT!
 |
At this race no
straw is supplied for the dogs at checkpoints, so I buy these
fantastic and expensive
suits to ensure, that the dogs don´t freeze while resting.
|
|
28.05.2009
Yaz´Yarkova´s Flickering Firefox alias
Æffer attended juniordog
class today.
|
|
26.05.2009
Allmost every day I train basic obedience and different tricks with 1
husky from each dogyard = 9 huskies.
This I do to give my dogs mental stimulation and satisfaction - a
task wich is very difficult to fullfill in a
multidog
kennel like mine.
It allso gives me a stronger bond to my dogs, wich obviously is a huge benefit !
Up till now I have only worked with traditionel guided operant
methods with my huskies, but I have now decided
to condition them on the clicker, and try this wonderful method on
them :)
|

25.05.2009
Frost 'n' Fun Juice alias

20.05.2009
Indi started clickertraining at
"Hund og Træning" today - seems very promising
:)
|
|
15.05.2009
Again today I
went to the eyespecialist with Yaz´Yarkova´s
Flickering Firefox.
He had asked permission to examine him again, and this time compare
him with his sister
Yaz´Yarkova´s Slithering Slowfox
.
This comparison unfortunately showed, that
Æffer´s sight-nerves are a bit too small
:(
The veterinarian thinks that
Æffer has normal eyesight by now, but he will always be
at a bigger risk of becoming blind....
|
|
14.05.2009
Braveheart
has a very seldom disease: Lucoid Lupus Erythematosus
:(
I
have treated him with huge doses of Corticosteroids for 3 weeks, and
his symptoms are nearly gone.
Hopefully I can keep his disease under control in the future with
lokal treatment!

13.05.2009
Indi went to training at
Dch today.
She worked very well - I actually believe I saw her in 4. gear for
the first time
:)

12.05.2009
Indi went to training at
DcH today.
Not our usual training session but a special one my trainer arranged
for me and Indi to introduce
track work
in the korrect manner.
Indi has tried it a few times
before, and she is happy and works well on the track :)

04.05.2009
Today Jaranga´s Ask died.
He has been living for several years at Pia Lykke´s kennel.
He was a very sweet dog - the only reason I let him leave my kennel
was, that he could not cope with
my other dogs high speed.
|
|
03.05.2009
Once every year in the spring, the danish forests invite people to
come and hear about all the activities,
that takes place the year around in the forests.
I sometimes find time to participate with my dogs, and today I went
bringing 8 huskies:
Yaz´Yarkova´s Slithering Slowfox,
Flickering Firefox,
Zavarinya,
Zaffaraya, Zcirocco II,
Tacky Toffee,
IGAIS Tassar Callisto and
Axia´s Baguette and
Indi.
It´s a huge experience for the dogs
- lots and lots of people of every size, sex and age have patted,
cuddled and
hugged my dogs for 4 hours.
The arrangement lasted 5 hours, but in the end my dogs were SO tired,
that I put them into the car.
My friends Christina and Pia were
there assisting me - THANK YOU GIRLS - I owe You !
|
|
01.05.2009
Today I
went to an eyespecialist with Yaz´Yarkova´s
Flickering Firefox.
His eyes have always been lying quite deep in his head, and his 3.
eyelids are partly covering his eyes
- all in all it has allway looked as if his eyes are a bit too small
for him ....
He has a condition that´s called
Microphthalmi - small eyes.
The reason, I went to the vet, was to get an opinion as to wether
his eyes are unnormal in any other way.
This condition is often related to other problems in the eye - but
in Æffer´s case the eyes are
normal
besides the size :)
So the conclusion is, that his eyesight is as good as a falcons -
allthough a very small one ....
;)
To make the days misery complete, we took an x-ray of Indi´s hips.
She makes a clicking sound when she walks, and besides that she has
a very rolling way of walking ....
Her hips were not super - but I find it quite difficult to estimate
the severeness of them.
She IS very young and not at all finished in her development, and I
have never seen pictures of an
Estrela puppy´s hips before - so I will not put anything into it yet.
But all the same I´ll start adding supplements to her food -
Glucosamine and Chondroitinsulfate.
|
|
29.04.2009
Indi and I started training at
DcH today :)
She worked VERY well - my daily work with the clicker
during the week surely payed off !
I´m still thrilled about this Club and it´s trainers - they do a
splendid job !! |
|
27.04.2009
Frost 'n' Fun Jubilee Juwel alias
Bling started juniordog training today
at Hanne Kornerup´s place.
WOW an airy spirit she is!!
I NEVER let my huskies loose without a loooong rope at training -
most of them would probably not run away,
but I most certainly believe that she would !!
She remembered everything from puppy class like her sister -
impressing.
|
|
26.04.2009
Coverdale´s Karima and I went
for a walk arranged by the sighthound club today.
The most beautiful scenery round a small lake - nice!
After the walk Christina Pape ( my kennel assistant in the winter
2007 ) held a small lecture about dog massage.
A nice arrangement - thanks folks.
My friend Pia also came with her German Shepherd Nando.

A hot hot day. |

25.04.2009
I went to an all day theory and practical session in the lokal DcH
club today with Indi, and I feel
SO lucky!!!
One of my trainers is totally hooked on clicker training, and she
fully supports me in my wishes for Indi.
Besides that she is one of the best dog trainers in Denmark, when it
comes to the Nordic Programme, wich
is what I would like to compeed in ( if ever
indi agrees ..... )
This is really great, and I feel
like I have won the lottery :)
The other DcH club I visited 14 days ago was much more reluctant
towards these modern methods,
and besides that the foremann has stated, that he did not want a
Lone Greva student in "his" club ................
An opinion, that he shares with nobody else, but all the same, I
will not bother to go further into the matter.
I have found a WONDERFUL DcH
club, and that is all that counts
!

Indi and
I payed my good friend Pia a visit today again-again.
She is educated at Lone Greva´s school, and besides that she has
taken a lot of courses in clicker training.
So she helped me getting started with this way of training Indi, and it turned out, that my
little girl is very bright
and learns very fast.
She IS allthough a dog with a very quiet temperament, and this must
never ever be mistaken for stupidity!!!!
She demands very much patience of the owner, and she is SO different
to work with than any
other dog I have ever met - a huge challange and so much fun.
Maybe she can even lower my blood pressure
:)

22.04.2009
Indi went ALL day with me to Lone Greva´s place.
Once a month I go there for teaching, and often we bring our own
dog.
Indi is a VERY special dog -
normal training methods does not work very well with her it seems -
she is
VERY independent and often choses to TOTALLY ignore me and my
intentions.....
This caracteristic IS described in various descriptions of the breed
- but one thing is to read about it - a very
different thing it certainly is to face a 4 month young puppie who
wouldn´t give a rat´s ass !!!
According to Lone I have to work
with 100 % operant conditioning on her ( clicker training ).
So I have whiped the dust off my clicker - and hopefully I´ll
succeed in convincing her the benefit of
cooperating with me :)

Frost 'n' Fun Juice alias
Juicy started juniordog training today
at Hanne Kornerup´s place.
I´m very impressed of the amount of things she remembers from her
puppy class training.
She is sweet, SPEEDY and great fun :),
and she is VERY good with other puppies no matter size or breed -
this actually
goes for all the 4 youngsters in my kennel - NICE!!!! |
|
18.04.2009
Indi went ALL day to the puppy training at FOF in Lone Greva´s regie.
We did this to give her loads and loads of positive, happy
experiences - and I must say, we managed :)
She was a spectator in the morning hours, and in the
afternoon she participated in puppy class.
Everybody just loves my little girl - dogs and humans with no
exceptions!

16.04.2009
Yaz´Yarkova´s Slithering Slowfox
alias Sloffy went to juniordog
training today.
A little less concentrated than I´m used to - I think she might be
coming into her first heat soon.
Her mother has just started - her first heat since she gave birth 8
months ago - and maybe she will
drag her daughter along.
Æffer is VERY unhappy being
separated from his mother and sister for the first time in his life
:(
|
|
15.04.2009
Yaz´Yarkova´s Flickering Firefox alias
Æffer attended juniordog
class today.
He is VERY eager - almost too eager - and very hard to calm
down to a level where he can consentrate.
But all the same it´s great fun :)

|
14.04.2009
I went to a theory evening at a lokal dog club under DcH ( a huge
national club offering obedience training
for family dogs of all breeds ).
This spring I will attend puppy training with
Indi in DcH regie in two different lokal clubs - and
after summer holidays
I will continue in the club, I like the best.

Today I took Indi,
Yaz´Yarkova´s Zavarinya,
Yaz´Yarkova´s Slithering Slowfox,
Yaz´Yarkova´s Flickering Firefox,
Axia´s Baguette, Frost 'n'
Fun Juice,
Frost 'n' Fun Jubilee Jewel and
Ailica´s Graceful Galina for a
visit at kennel Frost 'n' Fun.
We had 10 Siberians, 1 Borzoi and 1
Estrela playing together in their garden.
All having GREAT fun, and Indi
was completely happy and confident with all the other dogs.
She is SO WELL socialized with other dogs and strange people
- VERY impressing - and I must praise Pedro for
doing such a good job!!
I had a VERY nice day
together with Lotte, Peter, Nicole and Michael.

This wonderful spring afternoon, we took
Indi and IGAIS Tassar Zorba
Sundance for
a walk in the woods :)

09.04.2009
Indi and
I payed my good friend Pia a visit today.
Pia has two sweet German Shepherds Ollie and Nando and a very qute
Jack Russel Terrier Fifi, who
has two 4½ weeks young puppies.
She has horses, donkeys, a goat and cats, so it was very very good
socialization for my little Indi.
She was calm and laid back and took everything in beautifully
:)

08.04.2009
I attend puppy / juniordog training several times each week - at Lone Grava´s
place and also at Hanne Kornerup,
who is educated
at Lone´s school.
Today I brought Yaz´Yarkova´s Slithering Slowfox
alias Sloffy.
I am SO impressed with her willingness and her constant attention.
She is a very nice puppy to deal with - extremely smart and a very
fast learner!

Apparantly
Galina was injured during
Lure Coursing saturday :(
She showed no signs what so ever during her run, and she walked
completely normal, when I walked her after her run.
But when I took her out of the car at home, she was limping on her
right hind leg...
Today we chose to x-ray her, and luckily there were no broken bones.
Malou broke a toe in
january, as some of You might remember.
This fracture has given us a hard time being quite unwilling to heal, and
finally today we took of the cast for good.
She has been an absolute darling never ever touching the cast
:)
Indi started puppy class at Lone Greva
today - a bit timid but all in all coping well.

Karima,
Galina
and I went to Lure Coursing today.
The Danish Sighthound Club has decided to begin offering this
wonderful activity here in the western part of Denmark
:)
My girls were VERY happy and eager!
Indi is growing happier each
minute now, and I teach her new stuff every day - it´s a bit
different living here in Denmark,
and she has a LOT of things to learn!!
Walking on a leash in one of these new things .....
First time I put it on her and tried to lure her with me, she took
one loooong look at me - turned 180 degrees and sat down on her
behind totally ignoring each and every attempt from me to catch her
attention :) - what a funny girl!!
I have to take miniature steps in
her learning - PATIENCE is the way.
She is now quite good at searching for her breakfast in the grass -
her tail wagging happily all the time.
She is VERY social with other dogs
of every kind, size and colour - meeting a lot of them through the
fence to my playing area for the guests at my dog-hotel.
She is fully integrated in my
indoor dog-flock - each and every one of them bidding her wellcome
in the most friendly way :)

03.04.2009
A huge day yesterday :)
I went to
Copenhagen Airport to pick up my little puppy Indi.
She came alone on a plane from Portugal - a frightening experience,
and she was really spooked and unhappy!
She is absolutely wonderful, and today she gets more and more bold
and happy!!

29.03.2009
For
quite a while now, I´ve been looking for a good guard dog, and
yesterday I took the final decision :)
It has been quite
task to find the right breed, as I have MANY criterias for
this dog!
I need a very alert
and vigilant dog, who at the same time has to be calm, laid back
and VERY sociale
towards friends and my other dogs - quite conflicting
characteristics!
A dog that has a NATURAL guarding instinct - capable to estimate the
situation on its own.
A dog that will guard me and my flock as a natural task - no matter what
species my flock contains of.
Not too big and not too small - not too short haired nor too
longhaired.
Quite a puzzle !!!!
So here she is:
India da Casa das
Thuyas
She is a CAO DA
SERRA DA ESTRELA - a Portugese shepherd - in the past and
present used as a guard dog
protecting the farmer´s sheep from wolves, stray dogs and thieves.
I will of course
attend training with her to ensure that her watchfullness is formed
and directed by me -
and nobody but me! |

07.03.2009
I have
ordered a new Fritz Dyck training cart for the next season
:)
Some time ago I put
a danish add on my site, seeking for a training partner for the
coming season.
One of my friends from the past suddenly emerged, and she convinced
me, that SHE is the person I seek....
This way, I got a
SPLENDID
excuse for buying a new cart, as the ones I have aren´t that
suitable for two persons...
I am interested in selling my nice three wheeled trainingcart made
of stainless steel, app 65 kgs, if anybody is interested...?
- contact me for further information / pics...:

Aint she cute ?
:)))
:

My macropups and
micropups grow with incredible speed.
My camera is ruined, so unfortunately I can´t take pics at the
moment :(
The three girls are just beautifull, and the boy claims that he also
is working on becoming so ....
They have really really nice tempers - I go to puppy / youth
training with them, and they are very well behaved!!
LOVELY
LOVELY LOVELY PUPZ !!!!

25.02.09
Today I start on my new education as Dog-instructor - ( or rather:
Dog-owner-instructor :)
)
I have
chosen to educate myself at Lone Greva´s school - a VERY
well-reputed education based
only on positive reinforcement.

When I chose to
breed Yaz´Yarkova´s Zavarinya and bought
Frost 'n' fun Jubilee Jewel
and
Frost 'n' fun Juice,
I knowingly "spoiled" my winterholiday this season.
I can´t bring the pups into Sweden before bloodtesting them at 7
months, and I don´t want to leave
them for a significant amount of time
:(
So I have just returned after 12 days in Särna - 12 nice days with
relaxation and planning for
my future!
The sledding conditions were not the best - ice and running water,
but all the same I enjoyed my
stay up there.
During my short stay up there
Frost 'n' fun Jubilee Jewel
and
Frost 'n' fun Juice
had grown looooong legs, backs and ears
:))
They attend puppy training at Lone Greva - just like my
big pups did, and they are very fond of it!
Huskygården´s Rani
now have permanently moved
indoor, and he is allready a skilled bed-dog.... |
|
26.01.09
Having just
celebrated
Huskygården´s Lonyo´s 16 th birthday, his kidneys sadly gave up.
After two days of intencive treatment and loving care, I realised
that this was a permanent condition and gave him peace.
This loving dog
has meant SO much in my life.
Together with his sister - the increadibly sweet Huskygården´s
Libra - he has given me my first
wonderful real sleddog experiences.
I love him dearly, and the loss is overwelming!

|
|
10.01.09

Today my beloved
Huskygården´s Lonyo can celebrate his 16. birthday!

He is still VERY
fit - he has his ups and downs, but wouldn´t we all at that age ?
:) |
